Sony Files for Multiple Touchscreen Patents, Possible PSP Play at Work

During the month of October, Sony Computer Entertainment of America filed for several patents, all pertaining to touchscreen technology. This should of course come to no surprise with the ever-growing popularity of touchscreen technology, which Sony already provides in devices like the Sony Xperia lineup and select Cyber-shot and Reader models. What’s interesting about these particular patents though is the suggestion that the back of the screen will give you touch response as well, something that is rumored in the PSP2. There is also other clever lawyer terminology which indicated an “enhance” or “transform” touch capability which is probably pointing towards pinch to zoom, but not in those words because Apple already owns that patent. Another patent points towards a ‘paste’ command, and another towards a “prediction engine” which seems to be based on the concept of shifting menus based on your current screen and behavior.
