How ‘The Last of Us Remastered’ Will Utilize the Dualshock 4 on PS4

In a little over a week, gamers who’ve never had the chance to play The Last of Us or want to experience it again in 1080p 60fps will have a chance to do so. Dubbed The Last of Us Remastered, the HD makeover of the highly-praised game is coming to the PlayStation 4 with some expansive tweaks. As mentioned, you can already expected highly improved visuals that expand beyond smoother frames per second and higher resolution. Thanks to the power of the PS4, Naughty Dog, who is handling the HD upgrade in house has also tweaked the game’s lighting, shadow mapping, and textures to provide a truly worthy visual experience.

That’s not all however as Naughty Dog isn’t just tapping into the PS4’s power. The Last of Us Remastered will also utilize the Dualshock 4 and the extra functionalities it has to offer.

Thanks to the DualShock 4’s speakers, certain sounds will now be played through them like the audio logs which can be picked up throughout the game. When taking damage, the light bar on the Dualshock 4 will also light up to indicate you’re being attacked. The touchpad is also being incorporate into The Las of Us Remastered and will give players an easy way to open their backpack.

Lastly, Naughty Dog will also players to use the L2 and R2 aiming and shooting versus the L1 and R1 controller scheme that was found on the PS3 version though the change is optional. Available via Blu-ray or digital download, The Last of Us Remastered will launch on July 29th for $49.99.
