First Teaser for Media Molecule’s New PS4 Game Isn’t Your Typical Teaser Trailer

Media_Molecule_Sackboy_LogoMedia Molecule, the developer of LittleBigPlanet and Tearaway, has revealed a little bit about their upcoming, still-unannounced PlayStation 4 title, including a very short teaser trailer. But their method of teasing their new game is quite different from most early reveals.

In a blog post on their website, Media Molecule’s community manager James Spafford shared a short video that features the first footage of their PS4 game — or rather, footage of what happens when the game glitches out dramatically. Rather than just let the rendering error be corrected and continuing development, the team decided it was better to let the world see just how crazy an error in development can be.

Spafford wrote that it could be considered “an exclusive peek at our new game,” and that “it’s not particularly revealing, but we found it amusing!” Spafford also teased that if you looked closely, you’d see a familiar face from the tech demo that the team debuted at the PS4 announcement event back in February 2013.

While it’s a fun little goof and totally the kind of thing that the Guildford UK team would do for their community, we still have very little information on exactly what we’ll be seeing from Media Molecule on the PS4. LittleBigPlanet 3 was announced at E3 2014, but is being developed by Sumo Digital, and Media Molecule is not involved with the development, nor did they show off anything from any of the projects currently in production.

The European video game exhibition Gamescom is coming to Cologne, Germany later this summer, and we hope to hear more from the Tearaway developers — as well as major Sony studios such as Sony Santa Monica and Guerrilla Games — when it begins August 13. Keep it here at SonyRumors for all the latest news on your most anticipated PS4 titles.
