‘P.T.’ Demo Revealed At Sony Gamescom Show Is More Than Meets The Eye

P.T. Gamescom

New Silent Hill game from Kojima, Del Toro and starring Norman Reedus

Warning: if you’re easily scared, you may just want to read the sub-headline of this story and turn around. Which is probably what I should’ve done, but I’m going to muster through. At yesterday’s Sony Gamescom press conference, a trailer was released for a project called P.T. from a developer called 7780s Studio. The trailer revealed that the “world’s first interactive teaser” would be available only on PlayStation; you can see the teaser here:

After the break, find out just what P.T. really is… if you dare.

Available now on the PlayStation Store for PS4, the P.T. demo is an interactive horror mystery. The warning on the store’s page is pretty amazing, as I’ve never seen a title warn “Avoid playing if you have a heart condition” — though, granted, I don’t generally spend time with this genre. In any case, if you’re brave enough to download and play the demo, and get to the end, you’ll get a very interesting surprise, which has made its way online thanks to some intrepid streamers (this video courtesy of Soapy Warpig on YouTube/Twitch, one of the first to uncover the mystery [warning: graphic language]):

Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear Solid) and Guillermo Del Toro (HellboyPan’s Labyrinth) are the creative minds behind the latest entry in the Silent Hill franchise, known as Silent Hills. The game will feature actor Norman Reedus, known for his work on AMC’s The Walking Dead and the cult-classic The Boondock Saints. No release date has been announced, and the end of the demo does say that it is a teaser and “has no direct relation to the main title.”

While the [P]layable [T]easer is only available on PS4 right now, there has been no indication that Silent Hills will be an exclusive title for the system. Expect more information on Silent Hills to come, but until then, check out the demo and be prepared to shake in terror for a few nights. Just hearing my roommate shriek from the other room was enough to tell me I will never, ever play this game.

Discuss:

Have you tried the Silent Hills demo? If you have, have you slept at all since then?
