Leaked Sony IFA Invite Hints At Products to Be Announced

We’ve already learned that on September 3rd, Sony will be kicking off their IFA keynote from 16:15 to 17:00 CEST (7:15 PDT). For those not familiar, the IFA which takes place in Berlin is much like CES with a heavy focus on mobile. As the leaked press invite pictured above suggests, Sony is looking to introduce some new products. We’ve already reported about one of the pictured products from above, the Sony QX30 smartphone lens which was accidentally revealed by the Korean RRA (National Radio Research Agency). Though the picture above is likely from the current QX10, it’s not a stretch to assume that Sony will in fact be announcing a new model. So what else can we expect?

It’s widely believed that Sony will also be releasing an updated tablet, the Xperia Z3 Tablet or perhaps Xperia Z2 Compact Tablet (SGP621) as revealed by the Indonesian Postel site (their version of the FCC). We’ve also seen plenty of leaks from their next flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z3 which is a sure bet for an IFA reveal. Beyond that, don’t be surprised if Sony brings some new speakers, likely Bluetooth with NFC to the market as demand for such products continues to rise, thanks to the success of Sonos.

What’s interesting about the press invite from above is the inclusion of the TV shown. The TV in question happens to be the Sony X900B 4K television which was just awarded the ‘best 4K Ultra HD TV’ by EISA, the European Image and Sound Association. Having only been released in the US in the past 2 months, it’s highly unlikely that Sony is updating the TV’s and more likely that we’ll hear more news about new iterations of them, come CES 2015. Will there be price drops? New firmware updates with enhanced functionalities? Maybe a simpler answer is that Sony will take time to once again showcase their fleet and make a case for 4K to the press.

Either way, it’s shaping up to be a great IFA for Sony. Now all we have to do is wait patiently for the next two weeks.
