Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact Accidentally Revealed

Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet

You see the image above? Yea, that’s from the instructions booklet for the Sony Bluetooth Speaker BSC10. Notice the devices it’s compatible with like the  Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact? For those playing at home, that tablet has yet to be announced. We’d previously revealed tidbits of information that had leaked about a new Sony tablet (SGP621) and speculated that in fact it might be a new compact design. With IFA 2014 right around the corner, we’d expected and still believe that Sony will unveil their next tablets. Now, the above leak all but confirms that we will in fact be getting two new tablets from Sony in the near future.

After the jump, the full image and our thoughts on the naming scheme.

For what it’s worth, I find Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact a horrible name. Previously, Sony’s tablets were named Xperia Tablet S or Z. To better align the naming scheme with other Xperia products, Sony changed the naming to Xperia Z Tablet and Xperia Z2 Tablet. Seeing how Sony already has a line of compact devices like the Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z3 Compact, it makes sense to keep the naming scheme the same and call the smaller tablet the Xperia Z3 Compact Tablet versus a wordier Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact.

Update:

The above article has been updated. We’d previously incorrectly stated that the Xperia Z3 Tablet was also listed. Thanks to reader NLS for the heads up!
