Officially Meet the Sony QX1 and QX30

Sony_QX1_QX30 Leaked prior to IFA, the Sony QX1 and QX30 have officially been unveiled. As we’d previously reported, the QX30 will be compatible iOS and Android devices and offer 30x optical zoom. The QX1 on the other hand allows you to connect any E-mount lens that’s typically found on NEX cameras to your mobile device of choice while utilizing the QX1’s 20.1-megapixel APS-C sensor. More details after the jump.

While the QX30 was an expected update to the attachable smartphone lens line, the QX1 is the more interesting and innovative of the two. In short, you can now turn your smartphone (or tablet) into a DSLR. Thanks to onboard microSD card slot and rechargeable battery which allows for 440 stills or 150 minutes of video, you won’t have to worry about draining your only means to others for the sake of improved photos. The QX1 also offers:

  • 16,000 top ISO
  • 1080/30p video
  • Advanced Shooting Modes
  • RAW Capture

If that wasn’t enough, Sony was also able to cram in there a pop-up flash that should make your dusk and interior photos easier to capture. The QX1 will be available this winter for $399. For those who don’t want to worry about purchasing their own lenses, the QX30 will likely be a better companion. Featuring a 20.4-megapixel sensor, the QX30 while lacking flash is able to offer 30X optical zoom for crisp photos, even from a distance. The QX30 also features:

  • Sony_QX30_Official_124-720mm f/3.5-6.3 Optical Zoom Lens
  • 1/2.3-inch Exmor R CMOS Sensor
  • 12,800 Top ISO
  • 1080/60p Video
  • Lock-on AF With Continuous Shooting At Up to 10fps

While not quite as beefy as the QX1, the QX30 battery can withstand 200 stills or 45 minutes of video. Both devices can sync to your smartphone via NFC or Wi-Fi and can charge via micro-USB. The QX30 will ship sometime next month for $350.
