Sony Completely Revamps ‘Music Unlimited’ on iOS

Sony_iOS_Music_Unlimited_2.0Music Unlimited, the streaming music service from Sony, has received a major makeover that reimagines how the app should look and function. Via the changelog, with Music Unlimited 2.0 on iOS (iPhone & iPod Touch), you can now expect:

• Fresh visual design
• Super fast queue view and load
• View discography, top songs, related artists + more
• Sort your library by newly added songs and recently modified playlists
• Edit song order in playlists
• New grape flavor

More details after the jump.

With Music Unlimited 2.0, Sony is looking to unify their app design a bit. To that end, you can now expect expect a user interface that takes hints from the PlayStation and Walkman app. Sony is also prioritizing music discovery by allowing you to sort your library by newly added songs and recently modified playlists, and edit song order in your playlists.

While some of these seem like no brainers, the app has lacked them till now so it’s nice to see Sony finally catch up in this space. Despite all the changes, unfortunately Sony has yet to bring native iPad support to the app which is a bummer. Personally my iPad is the music hub for my household which I use to stream music to my AirPlay Sony NS510 speaker. (Worth noting that the app still works on iPad but doesn’t look nearly as pretty or makes good use of the extra real estate space.)

If you’re into music and are looking for a service that’s available on mobile (iOS, Android), desktop, and on PlayStation (PS3, PS4, PS Vita), then I’d suggest you give Music Unlimited a try. It’s the only one of its kind that on the platforms mentioned above and you can try it for free for 30 days. Music Unlimited app is available as a free download.
