9 Things I’ve Learned About PlayStation TV

PlayStation_TV_2The PlayStation TV is officially out in North America, nearly a year after it was released in Japan under the name PS Vita TV. Capable of streaming games from PS4 and PlayStation Now, the PlayStation TV will have access to over 700 titles across the Vita, PSP digital, PS One classic, and PlayStation minis spectrum. After performing our video unboxing of the PlayStation TV, here are 9 interesting things I’ve learned about PlayStation TV during my first 24 hours with the companion console.

  • Maximum supported resolution is 1080i
  • Can charge Dualshock 3 or Dualshock 4via USB
  • Either can be turned off or be in standby mode like PS4
  • Can be linked to only one PSN account
  • Holding the PS button allows you to turn adjust settings like Volume/Controller Rumble/Turn off the unit
  • PlayStation Now is a separate app which needs to be downloaded
  • Has physical button on rear to turn on/off
  • Requires credit card linked to your PSN account in order finish setup
  • No native apps like Netflix or Hulu
  • Sony’s own Gold Wireless Headset, Silver Headset, and Pulse Wireless Stereo Headset – Elite Edition are not supported but ironically, other Bluetooth headsets are
