In order to make pairing easier, Sony is continuing its push for NFC by including the tech. This means that the MDR-XB950BT can be paired with other NFC enabled devices like Sony’s Xperia Z smartphones and tablets by simply tapping the two devices against one another. With built-in electronic bass boost (which can be toggled on or off) and 40mm drivers, the XB950BT still manage to offer up to 20 hours of wireless music playback before requiring a charge via Micro-USB. If you’re low on battery and are on the go, you can simply connect the headphones via the supplied audio cable. Sony also claims a 200-hour stand-by time, so there’s no need to get paranoid about continuously charging them.

The Sony MDR-XB950BT come in a black finish with a hint of red throughout and are available for purchase at $159 $199.

Updated:

As our readers have pointed, Sony has the price back up to $199. It’s likely that the $159 was a limited promotional price.
