Sony Xperia E4 Leaks As It Passes Through FCC

Sony_Xperia_E4_3Come early 2015, Sony will launch a new budget Android smartphone. Likely targeting emerging markets like Asia and India, the Sony Xperia E4 will replace the Xperia E1 Dual and cost considerably less than current flagship phones like the Xperia Z3. Once released, the Xperia E4 will come with Android 4.4.4 KitKat though Android 5.0 Lollipop shouldn’t be far behind.

Now let’s talk details about this 5-inch budget smartphone after the jump, where you’ll also find more pictures.

According to leaks, the Sony Xperia E4 will offer a 5-inch display (540 x 960). Powering all of this is a MediaTek MT6582 chipset with 1.3GHz quad-core processor and Mali-400 MP4 GPU. Other details like RAM, Bluetooth configuration, and cellular options have yet to reveal themselves though we’re sure those will leak prior to the phone’s release.

Other noteworthy features of the Sony Xperia E4 include a much thinner bezel design than the Xperia E1 Dual, which it’s replacing. When it comes to budget phones, details and size tend to be lost in favor of lowering the price as much as possible so it’s nice to see Sony paying attention to these factors. Speaking of price, it’s believed that the Xperia E4 will carry a $200 price tag before any carrier contracts or rebates though in the countries where the Xperia E4 will launch, most consumers pay full price for devices and don’t rely on the 2-year contract system that exists here in the US.

In addition to the leaked images, the Xperia E4 also revealed itself today at the FCC where it must get regulatory approval. Thank to the FCC, we’ve learned that the Sony Xperia E4 will be offered in single SIM, dual SIM, and DTV models.
