Sony Teases Ahead of MWC With “Get Ready to Make a Splash”

Sony_MWC_2015_TeaseMWC 2015 is set to kick off on Monday, March 2nd in Barcelona where mobile device makers from around the world gather to show off their latest. Think of it like CES but in Europe and specifically for mobile. It’s been up for debate if Sony, who will attend the event, would actually unveil any products. Thanks to an accidental leak from Sony, we now know the company will at least launch their next generation tablet, the Xperia Z4 Tablet. But what else can we expect, seeing as in the past two weeks, the company has already announced the budget-friendly Xperia E4 and Xperia E4g? Speculation and teases after the jump.

As you can see from the image above and the tweet below, Sony is teasing something water related. Seeing as the company isn’t in the business of making pool noodles, it likely has to do with a water-resistant variant of the Xperia E4 line.

Sony_SmartWatch_3_Stainless_SteelSony has traditionally tacked on the word Aqua at the end of  models, like the Xperia M2 Aqua, which reprints versions of their devices which are water- and typically dust-proof. Seeing how the Xperia Z2 Tablet is also water-proof, don’t be surprised if the Z4 keeps the traditions alive. Still, the image above seems almost more in line with the company’s SmartWatch lineup which uses a similar structure for displaying time, which I’ve included on the right. Considering that the Sony SmartWatch 3 is already water-proof (IP68 rated), it’s hard to imagine that Sony would want to highlight that feature yet again. Instead, there may be a new smart watch from them, likely dubbed the SmartWatch 4, which will once again be water-proof like its predecessor.

What do you think the above image teases?
