Alongside the powerful and sleek Xperia Z4 Tablet that’s clearly targeting the premium market, Sony also unveiled the Xperia M4 Aqua. Described as a high-end mid-range Android smartphone, the Sony Xperia M4 Aqua has a lot going for it, like an octa-core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, 13-megapixel camera, and a waterproof design with a cap-less microUSB charging port – a world-first, according to Sony.  Xperia M4 Aqua represents our renewed mid-range focus – with no compromises. Offering the most popular standout features made famous by our Xperia Z Series; camera capability, two-day battery life and waterproofing – Xperia M4 Aqua brings a proposition and price, products in this section of the market simply cannot match.

As the name suggests, the Sony Xperia M4 Aqua can take a bath with no problem. Specifically, the Xperia M4 Aqua is IP68-certified device, which makes it dust-proof and can last up to 30 minutes in 1.5m deep fresh water. Unlike previous devices, you won’t have to fiddle around with closing the microUSB charging port either, making it an easy affair to swim with your M4 Aqua, or, you know, fish it out of the toilet.

Sony_Xperia_M4_Aqua_17Despite targeting the mid-range market, the Sony Xperia M4 Aqua is packed with plenty of power, including the new Snapdragon 615 chipset with a 64-bit octa-core Cortex-A53 processor, Adreno 405 graphics, and 2GB of RAM. In short, you should never lack processing power, and anything that Android 5.0 Lollipop has (which is the OS it will ship with), the Xperia M4 Aqua can handle.

All that power will also help drive the phone’s 720p 5-inch IPS display which can be put to good use when taking photos with its 13-megapixel rear facing camera with LED flash and a large F2.0 aperture, and ISO 3200 sensitivity. For your selfies, you can count on a 5-megapixel camera to help feed your Facebook and Instagram. All those fancy pics are stored on either its 8GB or 16GB internal storage which can be expanded with microSD up to 32GB. Besides internal storage options, you’ll also have to choose between red, white, or black.

With a 2,400 mAh battery, Sony claims 2 days of battery usage before needing to charge the 4G LTE phone. The Sony Xperia M4 Aqua will launch in 80 countries worldwide, across more than 100 carrier partners for around €299 during Spring 2015.
