Sony UCH10 Quick Charger Brings 5.5 Hours of Battery in 10 Minutes to Xperia Z3+

Sony_UCH10_Quick_Charger_3One of the lesser known features of the Xperia Z3+ (known as Xperia Z4 in Japan) is its ability to support Qualcomm’s Quick Charge technology. According to Sony, via the UCH10 Quick Charger which can be seen above, you can get 5.5 hours of battery life for the Xperia Z3+ in just 10 minutes.

More details after the jump.

The Sony UCH10 Quick Charger is a Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 certified charger which, at one end, plugs into the power outlet and on the other end to your phone via a USB cable. The USB is cable is no different than any previous cable used (which can be seen in our gallery below), meaning no special cables are required. What’s different however is the charger and, more importantly, the chipset found inside the Xperia Z3+ which means you can’t use this charger on other phones and expect a similar result. Thanks to the Qualcomm chipset found inside, you’re basically able to dump a massive amount of charge into the Z3+ where other phones usually require a trickling-in method.

According to Sony, a 45 minute charge will last you the entire day. Once fully charged, the Xperia Z3+ can provide up to a two-day battery life though Sony is not quoting what the charge time is when going from empty to full. What’s unclear at this time is whether the Sony UCH10 will be bundled with the Xperia Z3+ or if it’s a separate purchase. As we hear more on this, we’ll be sure to keep you updated. Also judging from the images above, it’s unclear if Sony plans to bring this to the States as our power heads look different than those used globally.

Do you find quick charging technology useful or is battery life and the length it takes to achieve full charge not a problem for you?
