Top ‘Destiny’ Community Wish List Revealed

Destiny_Xur

Over at the official Destiny forums, Community Manager Chris Cozmo23″ Shannon has put together a list of features most requested by Destiny players. While not giving them in the specific order of most requested to least, the community wish list is an interesting hodge podge of features that could either enhance the game or completely cripple it.

That list after the jump.

According to Chris Shannon, the most requested features from the Destiny community include

  • Transmogrification
  • Private Crucible Matches
  • Gun Skins
  • Guardian Facial Hair
  • Vault Sorting Options
  • Crucible Map Voting
  • Expanding Faction Interaction
  • Aim Assist Toggle Option
  • Rotating Stock on Tower Vendors
  • Dismantle Consumable Items
  • Additional Matchmaking Options
  • Weapon Rebalancing
  • Material Stack Size Increase
  • Additional Storage/Vault Options
  • Player Trading
  • More Ghost Skins
  • Additional Guardian Customization Options

As you can see, quite a few skin requests have made the list, indicating a thirst to further customize your Guardian and their appearance to others. Alongside that, other requests, though vague like ‘additional matchmaking options’ and private Crucible matches, would be a welcome addition to the game’s PVP.

If anything, I think Destiny can learn from Killzone, which includes maps with changing game modes which keep the matches fresh and players on their toes. However, other features like additional storage and player trading can also have an adverse affect.

The reason developers cap inventory is to force you to make a decision. Which guns are the best to carry and what’s worth keeping around in case or are better for certain raids? An inventory too large will mean players will have too many choices and in turn will have a weapon combination that’s right for every situation. While this might sound good in theory, in the long term, it can take out the challenge from the game. I myself still lack a primary weapon with Arc or Void damage and only have Vision of Confluence for Solar. This means depending on the nightfall raid, I may or may not have the most optimal weapon selection and that’s ok. It just makes the encounters that much more challenging while easier at other times.

Player trading makes this even worse by allowing those who routinely play to handicap other players. Your 3rd week in? No problem, I have a spare Gjallarhorn for you or Ice Breaker. (It’s worth noting for long time players that with Destiny update 2.0, major changes are coming to weapons, including the exotics I just mentioned) As Blizzard learned the hard way with Diablo 3, auction houses and trading are not the most wonderful thing.

Luckily Chris and Bungie are aware and note that just because a feature is heavily requested, it doesn’t actually mean it will be implemented.
