Sony Xperia Z5 Carrier Options for US Revealed

CES 2016 - Sony Xperia Z5 Compact

The Sony Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact are headed to the US. Unfortunately, when they arrive next month, they’ll be coming with no carrier support or fingerprint sensor. That means that you’ll have to purchase the flagship handsets at full price and get a SIM card for your preferred carrier. The upside is that at least you won’t have to worry about being stuck on a two year contract – though most US carriers are dropping those which is how most of the world functions anyway.

After the jump, the Z5 carrier options and arrival date.

The Xperia Z5 & Z5 Compact will be landing on Amazon and B&H Photo come February 7th. The particular variant making its way is the E6603 which utilizes the following frequencies:

UMTS HSPA+ 850 (Band V), 900 (Band VIII), 1900 (Band II), 2100 (Band I) MHz
GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 17, 20, 28, 38, 40)

That means that compatibility will be limited to AT&T and T-Mobile. Again, not a huge surprise, seeing how those carriers use more worldly standards whereas Verizon and Sprint use something that’s mostly only found in the US. The Sony Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact are priced at $499 and $599, respectively.
