Sony Xperia X and X Performance Priced in Taiwan

The Sony Xperia X and Xperia X Performance have already been priced for Europe where they’ll begin to appear later this month. After their Euro invasion, Sony plans to bring the new handsets to Taiwan where they’ll be receiving favorable pricing and options.

 the Xperia X costing NT$16,900 (£353, €465, $519) and the Xperia X Performance costing NT$23,900 (£499, €658, $734).

If those prices appear lower than their European counterparts, that’s because they are. However, keep in mind that pricing for all companies very by country due to differing tax policies and currency valuation. But that’s not all that differs.

the dual SIM model will be sold in Taiwan which will have 64GB of internal storage, versus 32GB of storage found in the European models.

I’m certainly far less aware of the Taiwanese market and the kind of phones that are in demand but pricing aside, Sony is certainly offering a better phone there, if only for the fact that internal storage is being doubled. This is a curious move, seeing how much smaller that market is compared to Europe. Perhaps Sony enjoys a unique position there with a high marketshare that they feel is in need of nurturing?

Why do you think Sony is offering a 64GB variant in Taiwan versus Europe?
