If you love your PlayStation VR and want to showcase it instead of just shoving it in a cabinet when you’re done gaming, the following is just for you. Sony and Numskull have teamed up to design an official PlayStation VR headset stand.

Display your VR headset the best way with this stylish officially licensed PlayStation VR Headset Stand. This high-quality build obsidian headset stand comes with an adjustable metallic base with engraved logos, and a velcro tie to manage your VR headset cables.

According to Numskull, the headset stand offers:

  • Official Sony Product
  • Premium quality obsidian head
  • Heavy chrome finish base plus engraved logos
  • Adjustable height mechanism (38cm – 48cm)
  • Cable strap to keep things tidy
  • Matches PlayStation colour scheme

The more interesting story here however is Sony’s willingness to work with partners to release accessories for the PlayStation lineup, including a remote for watching movies and other stuff versus them making it on their own. I’m not sure if this has more to do with them taking on less risk and smaller inventory while still providing accessories people want or a play at bringing in a larger amount of official third party support for PlayStation by not directly competing with other vendors.

My gut tells me it’s a little bit of both. With these products being officially licensed, Sony makes a royalty on each unit sold meaning that they can make money (though perhaps not as much as by making one themselves) without needing to take on as much risk. After all, if the units sell well, Sony can collect without risk while creating a happy partner and if they sell poorly, it wasn’t their money that was tied up in the venture.

The PlayStation VR headset stand is now available in the UK with a £29.99 price tag. No word if they’ll be making their way to the US and other territories.
