Were you planning on gaming this Sunday, February the 26th? If so, depending on your game of choice, you either need to ensure that your PS4 is marked as your primary console or be prepared to play offline titles only. Jason Dunning writing for PlayStation LifeStyle:

Sony has announced that the PSN will be undergoing 10.5 hours of maintenance beginning at 5pm PT/8pm ET on Sunday, February 26. It’s expected to end at 3:30am PT/6:30am ET on Monday, February 27.

During next week’s PSN maintenance – which affects PS4, PS3, PS Vita, and the online store – you’ll be unable to access Gaming and Social, PlayStation Music, PlayStation Video, PlayStation Now, and Account Management. You should still be able to log in to your PSN profile and use most applications during the maintenance.

As to how to set your PS4 as your primary console, you simply need to go to

Settings > PlayStation Network/Account Management > Activate as Your Primary PS4 > Activate.

From Sony:

 Affected Platforms:

PS4™ , PS3™ , PS Vita , Web

Affected Services:

Routine maintenance and improvements for PlayStation™Network will be performed for approximately 2 hours on 02/26/2017, 8:00 PM to 02/26/2017, 10:00 PM (Your Local Timezone). Anyone who already has an account can still sign in to their PlayStation™Network profile, play games, and use most applications while this maintenance is carried out. You will not be able to access Account Management, PlayStation Video, and PlayStation Store during this maintenance. We apologize for any inconvenience. We recommend activating your PS4™ as your primary console before maintenance begins so you can continue to play most games and use 3rd party services during maintenance. To activate your console, sign in to your PlayStation™Network profile and select [Settings] > [PlayStation™Network/Account Management] > [Activate as Your Primary PS4] > [Activate]. You only need to do this once. We strive to ensure that PlayStation™Network services are available at all times, but occasionally we must take PlayStation™Network offline to perform essential maintenance and implement feature enhancements. We are working hard to reduce the duration of each maintenance.

Start:02/26/2017, 8:00 PM

End:02/26/2017, 10:00 PM

It’s always easy to over think downtime like this but due to its longer than normal time, I can’t help but wonder if Sony is laying the ground work for some bigger things that will make their way to PSN this year.
