Looking to flash your own version of Android N on Xperia XZs? Lucky for you, Sony is making the process a bit easier and safer by enrolling the Xperia XZs in their Open Device Program. According to the Xperia maker:

Xperia XZs is the latest addition to Sony’s Open Device Program, enabling you to build and flash your own version of Android N on Xperia XZs devices.

You can use our easy-to-follow build guide for instructions on building AOSP for Xperia XZs. You’ll also need to download the necessary software binaries to get started.

If you didn’t know already, the Open Device program is our way to provide access and tools to build and test your custom software on a range of Sony devices. You can access all the resources you need through our Open Devices page on Developer World. We value open source and welcome you to work with us on projects via GitHub, as well as providing feedback on further resources you need and where we can improve.

As always with such programs, it’s perhaps best that you don’t rely on that phone to make a living, seeing how things can go south quickly with a bug. But if you’re a developer or someone who likes to tinker around, this is something you’ll likely want to take advantage of.
