‘Strength of the Sword 3’ Review

Strenght_Of_The_Sword_3_Screenshot_2

Strength of the Sword 3 is a recently-released PlayStation 3 exclusive sword fighting game from the two-man studio Ivent Games. If you are anything like me, you might be curious as to how you missed the release of Strength of the Sword 1 and Strength of the Sword 2. The reason you haven’t heard of the first two games is quite simple; they do not exist. The creators have jokingly said that they do not believe in creating sequels to their games, so they have jumped to the conclusion of the trilogy right away. The humor of the developer is apparent throughout this very challenging game. Keep reading to see what I thought about the marriage of challenge and humor in my complete review.

PlayStation Plus Content Announced For December

Dec. PS PlusHappy Thanksgiving! Are you ready for more information about free games? If so, you have come to the right place! The PlayStation Blog has announced all of the new content coming to North American PlayStation Plus subscribers for the month of December.

The biggest title this month is easily Borderlands 2 for the PlayStation 3. This game blends RPG elements into the first person shooter genre along with the never-ending search for loot to make one great experience!  While not surprising, it is worth noting that there are no offerings for the recently released PlayStation 4. I can only imagine this is due to the relatively small library of titles currently available for the system.

Sony has not announced which week subscribers will be receiving the games, but you can expect to receive a new one on a weekly basis as always. Sony was also quick to point out that one year subscriptions to PlayStation Plus will be on sale for $29.99 on Black Friday which is a great deal as it regularly retails for $49.99.

PlayStation Store Update (11-19-13)

Psn-Update Welcome to the PlayStation Store update for November 19, 2013.  Even though the PlayStation 4 released last Friday, this update is still packed full of deals and new content for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. Announced last week at the eve of the release of the PlayStation 4, The Last Of Us: Left Behind DLC is up for Pre-Order today. ‘A-Men 2’ Review

amen2_oNearing the end of my time with A-Men 2, my PlayStation Vita was kind enough to inform me of two stats:

1. captubaplayer (My PlayStation Network ID feel free to add me!) spent in total over 20 hours playing!

2. captubaplayer died in total 200 times trying to beat records in A-men 2!

These two facts serve to illustrate my time with the puzzle platformer A-Men 2 which is a follow-up to the PlayStation Vita launch title A-Men. According to the developer, Bloober Team,  A-Men 2 is “arguably the most punishing game on PSN and Vita to date”. While I am not sure I can agree with that assessment, I will say that this it is a very challenging (oftentimes frustrating) game to work your way through. Does this level of difficulty still lend to an enjoyable experience? Keep reading to find out and see our complete review.

PSA: PSN Is Down (updated)

20131114-224719.jpg
Just a quick heads up for all you midnight PS4 owners. PSN is currently down which will stop you from gaming online or downloading the required PS4 System Update 1.5. The error in question seems to be NW-31453-6 and the message:

The network connection has been lost.

Second Look: ‘Tiny Brains’ Won’t Hit PS4 Launch, Still is Adorable, Quirky Fun

Tiny Brains

No one was more disappointed than I was when the official PS4 FAQ on the PlayStation Blog was updated last week to omit Tiny Brains, from developer Spearhead Montreal, from the launch day lineup in North America. Back at PAX, I fell in love with the cute, curious co-op puzzle game from a team of former-AAA game designers, and it was one of my most anticipated games to download come November 15. Sadly, we’ll have to wait just a bit longer: Tiny Brains will be coming out November 26. Only 11 days separate your brand new consoles from a game I enjoyed so much, I wanted to go back for more.

So I did, when Spearhead and TriplePoint Games invited press to a preview event in San Francisco just a few weeks back. One of the reasons for the delay of Tiny Brains is that Spearhead is nailing down the online portion of the game, according to Polygon’s conversation with the team’s co-founder Atul Nath Mehra. While we didn’t test the online functionality at our preview event, co-founder and game director Malik Boukhira did lead us through an updated version of the playable PAX demo, along with a few other neat standouts that hadn’t been shown just yet.

PlayStation App Now Available on iOS and Android

PlayStation App

The PlayStation App, Sony’s official mobile companion to PSN and the very-soon-to-be-released PlayStation 4, is now available for download, according to Polygon and various other outlets. You can find it on the iTunes App Store or Google Play.

Announced in February, the PlayStation App allows you to access your PSN Account on compatible mobile devices. From the app, you can add friends on PSN, send voice, image, and text messages to those friends, and–when the PS4 launches this Friday in North America–view game footage and livestreams shared by PlayStation 4 users.

Early PS4 Adopters Get 30 Days of PS Plus, Music Unlimited and $10 PSN Voucher (updated)

day one surprise ps4

For most of us, $399.99 is a lot of money. And if you’re an early adopter of the PlayStation 4, chances are that’s not all you’ll be spending–there are games, accessories, apps, and more that will tempt many of us to reach Xbox One levels of spending. One added cost of the PlayStation ecosystem this generation, for those interested in online multiplayer, is a PlayStation Plus subscription. If you choose the most cost-effective plan, that will set you back at least another $49.99 in the US. All told, a new console generation can be a tab expensive.
