Blu-ray Sleeps with Bravia. Baby not too far off?

Fact Check, Sony not only developed Blu-ray and helped push it with the PlayStation 3, but they also make Blu-ray players and recorders. Sony also makes Bravia televisons and they happen to be the number one seller of LCD’s. Now without a HD LCD TV, Blu-ray itself wouldnt be worth much. So it only makes sense that if you want to push your Blu-ray line, you would bundle it with your HD TV’s. Now Sony is hoping to “increase the global market share of its BD products from 20-percent currently to 50-percent by the end of 2008,” and with HD DVD out of the way, it leaves only to educate and intise the DVD market. One of the ways Sony is looking to do this is hinted by Ryoji Chubachi who states Sony is looking to offer LCD’s with “BD recording functionality.”

Many people are currently on the verge of upgrading to an HD TV and it makes sense to bundle two HD products instead of trying to explain to the consumer that they might own a HD TV but they shows and DVD’s they watch are not HD. Two Birds with one Stone. Just an expensive stone we assume but hey, nobody said this stuff was cheap…yet

Days like this, skeptics usually stay home and fanboys go out and throw a party. The best part is, its all coming this month adding interactive capabilities to the PS3 for Blu-ray flicks that allow for downloadble wallpapers, ringtones and whatever else might be loaded on to them. But thats not all. Hit the magic button for full details.

Blu-ray Rental in Japan

Japan? High Tech. Sony? Japanese. Blu-ray? High Tech and Japanese so it only makes sense for Tsutaya, Japans largest rental chain to begin offering Blu-ray in stores and online. This will expand immediately at their top 10 stores and roll out to all stores by summers end.

HTSA to Support Blu-ray Exclusively

Home Theater Specialists of America (HTSA) has announced that they are now officially supporting Blu-ray as their sole high definition movie format. After conducting an internal survey of their customer base, they discovered that 92% of high definition players sold were Blu-ray, with the remaining 8% being HD DVD or combo players. HTSA based their decision to back Blu-ray on those numbers which clearly show the preference of their customers. Jay Vandenbree, President of Consumer Sales for Sony commented:

At a time when ever-changing technology tests just how much one can know about everything, HTSA has chosen Blu-Ray Disc as the format they support. I think it speaks volumes when support comes from those who specialize in home theater, and are closest to the consumer.

HTSA represents 62 home theater installers/retailers and $500 million in sales.
