PS4 to PS Vita Remote Play ‘Just Works’

PS4 to PS Vita Remote Play

During the initial PlayStation 4 announcement in February, Sony indicated that the PlayStation Vita would be a crucial companion device to the PS4. This will be achieved by the PS4’s Remote Play capabilities which streams the given game onto the Vita. Since then, Sony has further clarified that Remote Play will be required for every PS4 game, barring those that require additional accessories like the PS4 Eye or Move controller. So will such a requirement leave developers burdened? Apparently not, as the feature “just works.”

Mark Cerny, developer of the PlayStation 4 exclusive ‘Knack,‘ revealed to IGN’s Greg Miller about how he was able to bring remote play to his title.

Remote play is done by hardware…..basically “it just works.” What you have to do as a game creator is figure out how to map the controls to the PS Vita…..And thats not hard. And instead of playing on the TV you are now playing on the PS Vita.

Seems that beyond a simple mapping of controls which is quite easier than before with the Vita feature dual analog sticks, all other work is done by the PS4 and, to a lesser degree, the PS Vita. If marketed correctly, Sony can use this as a compelling feature to help boost PS Vita sales.

Does the fact that nearly all PS4 titles will be playable on the PS Vita make the portable handheld more attractive to you?
