Much to the dismay of fans who participated in the Destiny beta, the stats gained during that time will not transfer to the full version of the game once released on September 9th. Till now, Bungie had been unsure if they would keep the stats gained from the beta but their recent blog updates makes their decision clear.

From Bungie:

 If the rest of you haven’t gathered the painful truth from the eulogy yet, our Beta characters won’t transfer to the final version of Destiny. The vaults have been cleaned out, too 

While it would have been fun to keep the stats and progression from the beta, rarely do developers allow for gains from the beta period to transfer to the final version of the game. A few reasons include the ability for all gamers to start on equal footing and maybe more importantly, to give all a clean slate due to bugs. That last reasoning maybe the most important one as often with betas, exploits within the game are found which allow gamers to gain more stats/gear etc. To allow that to transfer to the final version would almost defeat the point of the beta which is meant to find such bugs and squash them before launch.

Still, I had a few nice head shots that I sure wouldn’t mind having attached to my stats before the glut of gamers jump on and completely whoop  me online.
