At SonyRumors.net, we’re always looking for new and ambitious members of the community to join our already talented staff. Unlike other major sites, SRN, from the ground up, is built, based, and supported by the community and not corporations. Due to this practice, we work only for the love of our vision, though there are perks like attending E3, Comic-Con, PAX, and CES as press and building your resume. Though we come from a humble base, our goals are anything but grounded and instead, based on building the best Sony and PlayStation community we can.

This is why we need ambitious, self-motivated and creative members of the community like you to join our intern team. Though we work in small teams, we achieve grand things and your thoughts, inputs, and suggestions are always welcomed.

Box Office Results – Intern (Minimum, 1 article a week)

Are you a fan of movies and what it takes to bring them to the big screen? Do you sit there and wait for the weekly box office numbers to see what a movie grossed that weekend? If movies and business are your thing, we want to talk with you. We’re looking for someone with a passion for film and the business behind it to spearhead a weekly box office article which highlights that weekend’s results.

Some things we look for from our applicants:

  • Creative writing skills, both grammar and spelling.
  • Passion for films and the business behind it.
  • Financial understanding is a plus.
  • Understanding of WordPress is a plus though not necessary.
  • Big plus if you have previous skills in journalism, creative writing, and/or looking to getting into a related field.

Blu-ray and Film Critic -Intern (Minimum, 1 article a week)

If the last time you stepped out a movie or finished a Blu-ray, you had a thought about the movie, it means that your a film critic. Ok, it might not be that easy but the first step for anything is to have a passion and opinion on the subject matter. If you meet that criteria and writing is your forte, then we’ve got an opening for you.

Some things we look for from our applicants:

  • Strong writing skills, both grammar and spelling.
  • Passion for films, be it on the silver screen or on Blu-ray.
  • Understanding of WordPress is a plus though not necessary.
  • Big plus if you have previous skills in journalism, creative writing, and/or looking to getting into a related field.

Social Media Manager / Community Manager – Intern

Though this seems to be turning into episodes of Myth Busters, I assure it’s not. However, we do have to address another myth out there and that’s websites exploding overnight or promote themselves. In fact, what may seem like a fun and no-pressure position is in fact a very crucial, well thought-out, and goal-oriented job. If you have a fun, creative, and outgoing personality with a knowledge and passion for social media and technology, this position will make you feel right at home.

Some things we look for from our applicants:

  • Knowledge of different social media platforms, including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Google+, YouTube, WordPress, Linkedin, Tumblr, Pinterest, StumpleUpon, etc.
  • Have a passion to interact with people and create a lasting conversation.
  • Be a team member.
  • Be creative and unique (especially when creating marketing and promotions pieces).
  • Self motivation is a big one this field.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Knowledge of Photoshop and HTML is a plus though not required.

Music Reviewer (Movies & Video Game OST) -Intern (Minimum, 1 article a week)

Do names like Michael Giacchino, Hans Zimmer, and Bear Mccreary mean something to you? If you’ve got a iTunes library with more video game and movie scores than top 100 tracks and have a background in music, you won’t want to pass this position up. Also, free music!

Some things we look for from our applicants:

  • Strong writing skills, both grammar and spelling.
  • Passion for films and video games.
  • Bigger passion for film and video game scores.
  • Background and understand of music and music composition.
  • Understanding of WordPress is a plus though not necessary.
  • Big plus if you have previous skills in journalism, creative writing, and/or looking to getting into a related field.

Writer Intern – Intern (Minimum, 5 articles a week)

Despite popular belief out there, technology blogs don’t write themselves, no matter how much we obsess over the latest Sony product release or argue in the comments section about why PlayStation is better than Xbox. So with this realization comes that we need more writers on our side. Lucky for you, Sony is a vast company with all sorts of product categories so if you’re already a blogger and want to take your journalism career to the next level and have a passion for technology, especially Sony, then you’ll be working with our writing team to offer the latest Sony news.

Some things we look for from our applicants:

  • Solid editorial and writing skills, no WTG, FTW, ROXORS, BOXORS, OMG? here.
  • Extremely detail-oriented with facts to support your views.
  • Strong, clear opinions about gadgets is welcomed but we’re not here to bash people/products. Constructive criticism is welcomed with a sense of ‘let’s build, not destroy.’
  • Broad knowledge of various technology product categories and how they related to one another.
  • Be willing to listen to your team members while also bringing new ideas to the table.
  • Tireless and resourceful when doing research with a mindset of giving credit where credit is due.
  • Movie references are always welcomed, of course!
  • Please let us know the division of Sony in which you are most interested – Sony is a huge company so we are always looking for category-specific writers who will give their all to covering any specific part of the corporation. Your focus will be on Sony and Android where you will be working remotely and gathering the latest Sony mobile coverage. It’s up to you to find find relevant pieces to cover which include general news, rumors, leaks, and software/firmware updates.
