Elevator Action Deluxe Arriving On PSN

Earlier today, Taito announced that they will be bringing an HD re-make of the original Elevator Action for the PSN. Basically every level, room, character, and design will be the same, but with reworked, HD visuals.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a re-make without some new features; and Elevator Action Deluxe will bring new weapons and new multiplayer modes.

Elevator Action Deluxe will cast players as a spy tasked to infiltrate a high-rise building filled with elevators. The object of the game is to collect secret documents while avoiding enemy fire. Elevator placements become more and more complex the further into the game a player gets.

Elevator Action Deluxe will be released on the PlayStation Network on August 30, 2011 in North America and August 31, 2011 worldwide.

Sony Ends Digital Comics Store for PSP. Readies for PS Vita?

Sony and the PlayStation team have given the Digital Comics Store one last update. The store, which allows you to download over 4,000 comics for your PSP and PSPgo systems, has received its last-ever update this week and is going out with a bang with titles like Batman: Arkham City, Stark Trek, and Transformers, to name a few. After this week, the store will continue to exist and all of your comics will be safe on your device but Sony will cease updating the store with new content. Grace Chen from the PlayStation Blog said,

The Digital Comics Team will continue to work on bringing the comic service to other Sony devices.

Though that statement itself is vague, it’s not hard to imagine where Sony is going with this. With the PS Vita readying for a holiday season launch date, what better Sony device to ready the store for than the Vita? This is especially true if you consider that the Vita has both front and back touchscreen, allowing you to easily navigate the comics with a much more natural feel while the 3G version will give users access anywhere to downloading new content. Of course, with Sony’s S1 and S2 tablets being PlayStation Suite Certified, it would be interesting to have Sony expand the store into a greater number of products. In doing so, the company both adds further value to their own products while allowing consumers to more easily purchase the given contents, knowing that they will work on a larger device base.

Reminder: You Have till June 28th to Enroll in the Free Identity Theft Protection Offer from Sony

Though there is no point to retell the story, I’m sure many of you are aware of the hacking incident that caused Sony to shut down the PlayStation Network for a month. Before Sony had a chance to shut down their network services in order to keep hackers out, some data was breached. If the group behind the network attacks is to be believed, then 70 million accounts made it into the wild. Till this day, we don’t have any confirmation if anybody’s information has really been accessed or not. However, as part of a Welcome Back package from Sony to coax woe-stricken fans back in and help ensure them of the services, Sony, in collaboration with Debix, decided to provide one-year identity-theft protection, free of charge for PSN and Qriocity users.

Sony Computer Entertainment and Sony Network Entertainment have made arrangements with Debix to offer AllClear ID PLUS to eligible PlayStation®Network and Qriocity account holders in the United States who are concerned about identity theft.

AllClear ID PLUS is a premium identity protection service that uses advanced technology to deliver alerts to help protect you from identity theft. The service also provides identity theft insurance coverage and hands-on help from expert fraud investigators.

Sony has arranged, at no charge to eligible PlayStation®Network and Qriocity account holders, for twelve months of this service to be provided by Debix to those who choose to enroll. In order to be eligible, account holders must be residents of the United States with active accounts as of April 20, 2011.

Shortly after Sony was able to bring the PlayStation Network online, emails began to be sent to PlayStation Network users which notified them to change their password, and allowed them to enroll in the free program. However, just like the “Welcome Back package,” neither deal was designed to last forever. Users who wish to participate in the free identity theft protection offer from Sony need to apply by June 28th, after which the free program will end.
