PS4 Sells 72k More Units in June Than Xbox One

This is despite Microsoft landing TitanFall as an exclusive and promoting the hell out of it wherever it they could, including at the movie theaters which likely isn’t cheap. Despite all of that, the PS4 was still able to easily hold off the Xbox One in the June NDP. Let’s talk numbers, including that of other consoles like the PS3 and Wii U.

Many First Party Games in Development for PlayStation Vita

Shu_Yoshida_PS_Vita

Earlier this week, we ran an article about the reasons behind the lack of PS Vita support by EA. While EA sometimes doesn’t have the best reputation in the industry, their arsenal of games cannot be denied and their lack of support on Vita is truly a major hurdle for the portable console. With little time spent on the Vita at E3, many began to wonder if Sony shared a similar sentiment about their powerful portable. When Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida was interviewed in Spain last week, he was quoted saying

I would say, yes, that’s correct

When asked if there would be fewer first party titles on the Vita. Now the fan favored and outspoken Yoshida has gone on record to clarify his statement about first party games.

Love them or hate them, EA is one of the largest game publishers in the world. From consoles, to handhelds, and mobile, EA is known for small gems like The Simpson’s Tapped Out and Plants vs. Zombies to mega franchises like Call of Duty (jokes), and FIFA to name a few. Have EA support your platform and it has a high chance of flourishing but if the game giant decides to look away, you then get the results of the the Wii U and PS Vita, despite the latter one being hailed as a wining combo by gamers and press alike. So why has EA shunned the powerful portable in favor of mobile? The answer may surprise you.

For those not familiar, PlayStation Now will allow PS4 owners to stream PS3 games to their console with various methods which include purchasing, renting, and eventual subscription models. After the PS4 launch, Sony will bring PlayStation Now to the PS Vita, PS3, followed by Sony’s smartphone and tablets. In fact, Sony’s 2014 fleet of 4K televisions will get PlayStation Now built in.
