Sony Alpha A65 and A77 Pictures Leaked. We Have Details and Specs

Though we are still expecting an official announcement from Sony in August, the Alpha A65 and Alpha A77 pictures have been leaked and we have some juicy details and specs to share with you. First, let’s kick things off with the bigger of the two, the Alpha A77, which will be Sony’s top APS-C model (as opposed to the higher A800 and A900 series which are full frame). Though things can always change, the current A77 specs include:

  • 24 megapixel sensor
  • 11 point AF
  • 10 frame per second burst
  • ISO of 100-102,400
  • Built in GPS
  • Compact Flash, SD Card, Memory Stick

Hit the jump for additional details including launch date, price and A65 specs.

Other things that we can report on for the Alpha A77 include a new double Bionz processor and a newly developed 3 million dot OLED EVF, bringing you a very vivid, true to life, and accurate image right on the camera screen. As we reported previously, the A77 will indeed be incorporating USB 3.0 which is backwards compatible with USB 2.0. Full 1080p HD video (1080p/30fps, 720p/60fps and 720p/30fps ) is standard for this magnesium-alloy-based camera and the shocker of it all is the price tag. This time around, $1,000 will get you the body, a price point which is much lower than the Nikon or Canon counterparts which are losing ground quickly to Sony. Of course, there will also be a camera and lens kit combo, featuring a 16-50mm zoom, though we have no price point on that yet. Speaking of 1,000, that’s the number of photos you can expect to take on one battery charge. Utilizing Sony’s latest translucent mirror technology, the Alpha A77 will sport an EVF (electronic viewfinder) and Sony in general will stop providing OVF (optical viewfinders) as a feature. Look for an August announcement, followed by an October launch.

Now, the Alpha A65 is the smaller of the two yet very similar in design and specs. The Alpha A65 is actually here to replace the A55 but will have almost all the same specs as the A77. The only major difference to note will be the lack of the magnesium alloy body. That means that you can expect the same 24 megapixel sensor, GPS, and USB 3.0 functionality.

After a much awaited fanfare, what do you think about the specs of the A77? Do the price point and features entice you to upgrade or switch from a different brand to a Sony Alpha?
