Crysis Coming to PlayStation Network

Crytek’s CEO, Cevat Yerli announced through an interview with GTTV last night that Crysis is finally coming to the PlayStation 3 via the PSN.

Considered one of the best PC games of all time, the original Crysis pushed graphical quality to a whole new level when it released, with most players having to upgrade their computers in order to play the game in it’s highest settings. According to Crytek, the game – in it’s transition to the PS3 – will receive some modifications and enhancements to bring the once gorgeous game into the current generation. Hit the jump for more information on Crysis on the PS3.

So what modifications and enhancements are coming to the game?

  • Crysis to be remastered using CRYENGINE 3 (Used by Crysis 2)
  • Added all new lighting systems
  • Updated effects, explosions, and weather systems
  • Enhanced nanosuit options previously unavailable in the original

According to Yerli, the team at Crytek are extremely proud of what they’ve accomplished with the first game, and of what’s coming for the remastered Crysis for PS3.

We set out to create a next-generation FPS and delivered a PC experience that became a benchmark for quality – and still is for many gamers even four years later… By bringing the single-player campaign to console, we believe we are again setting a new standard for quality in downloadable gaming.

One thing of note, Yerli has also said that they are only remastering Crysis’ single-player component and leaving the multiplayer on the cutting room floor.

The game cost $19.99 when it releases on PlayStation Network this October.
