With all the new and exciting news coming out of Los Angeles this weekend from E3, it’s easy to forget about this weekend’s box office results, but, fear not, loyal readers. We have you covered. This week’s box office results saw Snow White and the Huntsman finish on top, with Sony’s Men in Black 3 falling to second place in its sophomore week. Also, Marvel’s The Avengers passed The Dark Knight this weekend for third place on the all-time domestic box office list, with the superhero film looking to finish its box office run with a domestic $600 million total.

Hit the jump to see a full rundown of this weekend’s box office results.

Finishing in first place this weekend was Snow White and the Huntsman, which debuted with $56.1 million, the fourth highest debut of the year. The film, starring Twilight’s Kristen Stewart and Thor and The Avengers’ Chris Hemsworth, had a huge marketing push from Universal that sold the film to various demographics. While the film had a very strong first week, it does face some stiff competition in the form of sci-fi thriller Prometheus next weekend.

Despite Sony’s Men in Black 3 falling 48 percent in its second week, the film still managed to take second place on this past weekend’s charts. According to Box Office Mojo, this is a strong showing for a sequel after a Memorial Day opening. The movie’s $111.1 million through 10 days is just off of the previous film’s $115.6 million ten-day total.

Falling to third place in its fifth weekend at the box office was The Avengers, which has earned a total of $552.95 million domestically, good enough for third all-time. The film now trails only Avatar and Titanic at the domestic box office, though the film is currently outpacing Avatar through 31 days of release.

No new films debuted in the top five this past weekend, though big budget action flick Battleship continues to struggle. Through 17 days of release, the film has made just $55.4 million domestically, less than Snow White and the Huntsman’s debut total and less than Disney’s John Carter, which made $62.4 million through the same time frame.

With no new Sony films debuting this upcoming weekend, look for Fox’s Prometheus to make a strong debut and results to remain relatively stable.

Domestic Box Office Top Five

  1. Snow White and the Huntsman ($56.1 million)
  2. Men in Black 3 ($28.0 million)
  3. Marvel’s The Avengers ($20.4 million)
  4. Battleship ($5.0 million)
  5. The Dictator ($4.7 million)
