Diablo 3 Won’t Allow for Cross-Platform Play Between PSN and Battle.net

One of the big reveals during the PlayStation 4 press conference was the change of heart at Blizzard. The long-time PC supporter and general console snob was on stage, touting their love for the PlayStation 4 and what they hope to do with the console. More immediate however for PlayStation fans was news that Diablo 3 would be coming to the PlayStation 3 and eventually the PlayStation 4. Like all things within the industry, as time goes on, we tend to hear more details about them – some for good and some for bad, in this case. According to Blizzard:

In terms of allowing an analog controller hookup for the PC, we don’t have any plans for that kind of support right now. Similarly, since Diablo 3 for console was designed with a controller in mind, the PlayStation version of Diablo 3 will not support USB mice or keyboards.

Blizzard goes on to clarify that this means those who will be playing on the PlayStation 3 via PSN will not be able to play alongside of PC users. Nor can you bring your PC account to the PS3 or vice versa. This is of course extremely unfortunate for gamers, especially those on the PS3 who wish to play with a larger pool of players. It still remains to be seen if this divide is between PSN and Battle.net or if the divide will also split PS3 and PS4 players.

Does the lack of capability to play with Battle.net players make Diablo 3 on consoles a less compelling buy or does this news fail to affect your purchasing decision?

I think if blizzard lunched Diablo 3 in ps3 with nothing special ( bigger story line, new monsters, areas, and new places to visit) ppl won’t be lining up to get. Yet in the other hand the PS4 version, blizzard said in an interview that they will use all the ps4 social features, which will add more depth to the game and will sell more copies than the ps3 version.

  • Social can certainly add some great depth to Diablo 3

but i think Diablo3 won’t do well , cuz the PC version is only 49$, but the playstation version will be 59$, with the same content no cross play between PC and playstation or between PS4 and PS3.
