Software updates can be a magical thing and make it feel like it’s Christmas all over again. Over the past few years, we’ve seen software updates turn the PS3 from a hardcore gaming machine to a rich media hub with a host of new apps. Now, Sony is applying a bit of the same software update magic to Action Cam, their take on the Go Pro. Thanks to the latest update, the Sony Action Cam (HDR-AS15) will be able to record at 1080p 60fps versus the previous 30fps. Those who like to adventure under the sea and own the underwater housing will want to listen up as the new update allows for better white balancing when submerged. But Sony didn’t stop there.
If POV filming is your thing, you can now adjust the sound level for recording by being able to adjust sound levels for the on/record trigger and settings buttons. Thanks to the cameras Wi-Fi, come this June, you will also be able to upload your videos online with PlayMemories Online. Just last week, Sony also officially announced the Action Cam dog harness that was shown at CES, perfect for doggy POV films. The new software update for the Sony Action Cam should be live and ready for your downloading pleasure.

SONY UPGRADES ACTION CAM FEATURES AND EXPANDS LINE OF ACCESSORIES

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – April 29, 2013 – Sony today announced a software update to its wearable point-of-view video camera, allowing Action Cam owners to achieve 1080/60p recording and more. In addition to enhancing the camera’s high performance features, Sony is rolling out a variety of new mounts that will open up the possibilities for this powerful yet compact POV cam.
Action Cam Firmware Updates
Owners of the HDR-AS10 and HDR-AS15 can now update their gear with the latest software enhancement by simply accessing a free download at www.sony.com/actionupgrade. The new features include:
· PS Recording Mode (1920×1080/60p)*: Allowing users to shoot smoother video of fast moving scenes with a higher frame rate.
· Water Scene Selection: Makes video capture underwater even clearer than before with new “water mode” enabling white balance adjustment.
· Beep Off Setting: For those who prefer to film and control their POV footage in a quiet zone, the camera is now able to adjust sound levels for the on/record trigger and settings buttons.
· PlayMemories Mobile Seamless Mode Change**(available in June): Allows seamless, quicker upload of video content when using the Smart Remote function. Just connect the Action Cam to a compatible smartphone or tablet using the built-in Wi-Fi® to utilize the Smart Remote and after filming, upload the footage directly to social channels via PlayMemories Mobile without having to disconnect.
