PlayStation 4 Sales Reach New Milestone With 6 Million Units Sold

ps4wcameraAs we recently reported, PlayStation 4 was launched in its home country of Japan 12 days ago. Sony has announced that this launch was a success with the total cumulative sales of the PlayStation 4 crossing the 6 million mark. The news broke earlier today on the PlayStation Blog as John Koller, VP of Marketing for SCEA, wrote a post detailing the milestone.

The blog post continued with several other interesting statistics regarding the PlayStation 4. Since the launch of the PS4 there have been more than 3.6 million live broadcasts through Twitch and Ustream. Streaming from the PS4 has also accounted for 20% of daily broadcasts for Twitch. Gamers have also used the Share feature of the PS4 which allows you to post video and screenshots to Facebook and Twitter  over 100 million times.

The PlayStation 4 continues to sell very well despite the expectation that the console will remain scarce until at least April. With a plethora of new indie titles hitting PlayStation 4 this month, and the highly anticipated inFamous: Second Son releasing on March 21st , it seems that Sony has positioned themselves to continue this success for the foreseeable future.
