Sony Expects to Sell 16 Million PS4s in 2015

Revealed in their latest financial report, Sony is expecting to sell a staggering 16 million PS4 units in 2015. If successful, that will be up by 1.2 million units from 2014, when they sold 14.8 million units. During its nearly two-year run, Sony has routinely outsold the Xbox One, which has enjoyed a sale price that places the console $50 under the PS4 with usually two free games to go along with it. At last count, Microsoft had sold 12 million Xbox One units.

As of March 1st, 2015, Sony has sold more than 20.2 million PS4s and will likely cross the 30 million units mark by year’s end. If Sony’s predictions hold true, expect them to pass the 36-million-units-sold mark sometime around March 2016, when their physical year ends.

Do you think that, with the continued success of the PS4, we’ll see a price cut this year, or is there little reason for Sony to cut the price?
