With an array of new 4K televisions, including the flagship X930C and X940C with HDR, Sony is also launching a new flagship sound bar, the HT-T9. Targeted at those who want the latest in sound technology, including native support for Hi-Res sound, the HT-ST9 is capable of delivering on many fronts, thanks to its built-in 7.1 surround sound. A few more details after the jump.

If sound is something you’re into and if you’re a home theater fan, the Sony HT-ST9 might just be what you’re looking for. Tuned by Academy Award-winning Sony Pictures engineers, the HT-ST9 7.1 channel surround sound offers 800 watts of output with its seven amplifiers and nine speakers. There’s even a wireless 200 watts front-firing subwoofer with passive radiator to go along with all of this, ensuring that your music has depth and your movies have base.

Depending on the number of devices you have, the ST9 could also make the need for a receiver moot with its 3 HDMI (HDCP 2.2) inputs. That translates to native 1080p, 4K, and 3D passthrough. Other goodies include an ethernet input, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth audio, and NFC for easy pairing.

The Sony HT-ST9 Sound Bar is priced at $1,499 and is available for pre-order. Sony expects to ship them sometime in July alongside the ultra-thin X900C and X910C 4K TVs.
