Sony Delays HDD Recording on 2015 Android TVs

One of the features that will eventually make its way to Sony’s 2015 HD and 4K Android TVs will be the ability to record video. Specially, via a software update, Sony was going to enable USB HDD recording and PIP/PAP. Though destined for Europe only, the feature has once again been delayed. That’s because Sony had originally promised the additional functionality by Fall and will now instead deliver it sometime in 2016.

More details after the jump.

From Sony

We aim to implement USB HDD Recording and PIP/PAP functionalities before 31st March 2016

Luckily the end of March timeframe is for those in the UK; other Nordic countries and Ireland could see it before February 29th. No reason has been given for the delay though with CES around the bend, we might finally see the functionality in person with perhaps improvements upon what was originally promised.

Also around the corner is likely a fleet of new 4K Android TVs.

Were you looking forward to the feature or do you already have other devices like a TiVo to help you record?
