New Sony Action Cam Models (AS50 & FDR-X2000) to Debut at CES?

CES 2015 Sony 4K Action Cam X1000v

Like regular clock work, Sony has been using CES to debut new additions to their Action Cam lineup. Just last year, the company brought to market their 4K Action Cam (FDR-X1000V) while maintaining the same sleek design. If rumors and past history hold true, we’ll see a successor to their 4K model. According to sources,

It will be the best action cam on the market. The improvements are mainly a better sensor with improved frame rates and low light capabilities

None of this should be too surprising but perhaps even more juicy is what Sony plans to do with their AS50 Action Cam. Those details after the jump.

The rumored improvements for the AS50 include

 -Same as usually Zeiss lens
-XAVC-S 50mbps codec
-FullHd recording 60p
-New menu with icons (much easier and faster to navigiate)
-Waterproof up to 60m with included case
-Batery compartement is similar to the one in az1, but as50 works with same battery as as20
-Bluetooth (to power on camera with the remote)
-Electronic zoom
-There will be new remote rm-lvr3 but will not be sold with as50 and will be released later in 2016

Sony has been investing a lot of money in their image sensor business as well as dipping their toes in building drones. Both could go a long way towards helping the company improve their Action Cam line which has joined a very booming market as consumers purchase more and more drones or want to record their next wild adventures with something less clunky than a traditional camera.
