Horizon: Zero Dawn Officially Delayed to February 2017

This is something that I brought to your attention in late April. Horizon: Zero Dawn, the PS4 exclusive from Guerrilla Games (Killzone) has officially been delayed to early next year. Hermen Hulst, Managing Director at Guerrilla Games:

It wasn’t an easy choice to make; we know many of you have been anxious to play the game since we first announced it. However, we also want to ensure that Horizon Zero Dawn lives up to the visuals and gameplay quality that our games are known for. The new date affords us the extra time required to deliver fully on our ambitious vision for Horizon Zero Dawn.

As of now, the game is set to launch on February 28th, 2017 but with it still being nearly 10 months away, anything could change, including additional delay. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again; if the end result is a better game, I’ll take as many delays as needed. Now that Uncharted 4 is out, you know how many people are talking about the two delays that hit the game? Zilch.

Instead all the talk revolving around UC4 is what a masterpiece Naughty Dog was able to produce. In fact if I were you, seeing how many titles are experiencing a delay before they’re finally launched, I’d assume that any game you hear about at E3 could in fact be coming out anywhere from 6 to 12 months later than the originally announced release date. To help tide you over though, here is a brand new trailer.

Discuss:

Are you bothered by the delay?
