Sony has chosen an aggressive strategy of releasing a new flagship phone every 6 months which they believe will help them catch up with rivals Apple and Samsung. Most recently, the company announced the Xperia Z2 which is beginning to make its debut throughout the world. Sony has seen the most success with their products in Europe and Asia but it seems like one country might be missing out on the launch of the smartphone that’s capable of recording 4K video.

According to rumors, the Sony Xperia Z2 will not make its Hong Kong debut this month and instead, will likely arrive sometime in April. The reasons behind the delay seem to range from component shortages to a focus on Europe and a gradual expansion to other countries. The truth is likely somewhere in between and with the success that Sony has enjoyed in Europe, they likely want to prioritize the region first. With the Xperia Z2 being marked as companies most innovative smartphone yet, Sony likely wants to ensure that inventory levels are able to meet demand, a similar strategy that the company employed for the PS4 launch.

Tablets fans however need not worry as the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet has gone on sale today in Hong Kong as planned. Those looking to snatch a Wi-Fi only model can look forward to a 16GB (HK$3,890) and 32GB (HK$4,690) via Sony’s online portal or at retailers.
