Heavenly Sword 2? Yes Please!

heavenly_sword_stephen_2.jpg

So Heavenly Sword? Epic. Heavenly Sword. Beautiful. Heavenly Sword Sales. Top 10. Epic. There. But that dosent seem to be stopping the guys who brought you Heavenly Sword. During a recent Focus group:

They initially asked for video game background, then they had a follow-up phone call asking which games I had played or owned, focusing heavily on Heavenly Sword. There were 3 surveys done on Monday, groups of 6 for the first 2, 4 for the last group (my group). Predominantly males, asking about our impressions on Prince of Persia, God of War, Ninja Gaiden and, of course, Heavenly Sword. Some questions were asked about why Heavenly Sword didn’t sell so well, what our impressions were on the gameplay, how the cutscenes were done, combat mechanics.

Later the source goes on:

At the end of the night they gave us a few pieces of paper and asked our takes on the ideas (probably already set in stone). The following are the sheets that they asked our opinions on:

1. Heavenly sword 2 will take place 10 years after the events in heavenly sword 1

2. The main character will be a male with martial arts background

3. The main character will be Kai, but she will be a more mature woman.

4. The game will require you to master different martial arts styles before retrieving the heavenly sword

5. The game will, instead of button mashing, have controls that utilize an analog stick to go through weapons.

6. The game will have downloadable weapons, characters, and enemies to customize your experience.

7. The game will be more interactive with the environment

8. The game will have you on a storyline with replayable missions, as opposed to an open world.

Dark Sector creators shaft PS3 owners

D3 Publisher has come out and said “Meh” to PlayStation 3 users. What difference stands between the two you ask? We say that the 360 features Quick, Custom and Ranked matches. The PS3? Only can you search or create games. Why? Its not like the PS3 cant handle “ranked matches” so were going to file this under “lack of skills/Confidence/talent” or them just being purely lazy. Its one thing to say we didnt add achievements because there is no achievements, but when Devs remove random features, it not only hurts them, but it says to PS3 owners, your $60 isnt worth the same as 360 owners. What do you think D3?

300 PS3’s for the AirForce Please

airforce_cell.jpg

It seems as if the AirForces own flight simulators are not enough as the AirForce has just put in an order of 300 PlayStation 3 for some Ace Combat 6 action, now to just master the SIXAXIS. Or so the pilots wish. The actual 300 orders of the 40GB PS3’s seem to wanna be used for Cell “assessment”.

“The processors in the Sony PlayStation 3 are the only brand on the market that utilizes the specific cell processor characteristics needed for this program at an acceptable cost.”

Faster then PS/PS2, PS3 Hits 1 Million in UK

playstation_1_million.jpg

So whats in a number? Money and pride in this case and thats what Sony of Europe has just done. The PlayStation 3 has hit the 1 million mark faster then the PlayStation or PlayStation 2. Now of course, this is no time to rest as the PS3 will always have an upward battle against lowered price consoles so we home and it seems that Sony is not letting its guard down.

Our momentum will continue with the introduction of in-game communication in the summer, firmware update 2.4 and the strongest line-up of games through our third party partners and our own studios. I’d personally like to thank our trade and business partners for helping us on the start of the PS3 journey.

Get your Pilot License for April. Free Warhawk Expansion Coming

Anybody remember that little game that wasnt so little called Warhawk? The Devs sure do and they have some love to give back to the community in April when they release a free Expansion to help you shoot, blow and defend against the Eucadian. Sorry but its all about the Chernovan!

We just released an expansion on Warhawk in September, and we’ll release another one in April.

Hit the magic button for details.

Gaming Apparel on the Horizen

“Merchandising, merchandising, where the real money from the movie is made. Spaceballs-the T-shirt, Spaceballs-the Coloring Book, Spaceballs-the Lunch box, Spaceballs-the Breakfast Cereal, Spaceballs-the Flame Thrower.” Were assuming Sony saw the light after watching SpaceBalls again (and hey, where is a Blu-ray version of this?) Because Sony has just announced a slew of apparel for some of their biggest franchises.

After the jump, the full press release.

Cell Shrinks Again

I guess Sony is really taking the whole “Cells are small” idea into heart as they have just been able to shrink the heart of the PS3 again. What this means is that with the new 45nm processor, the PS3 is able to achieve 40% drop in power consumption and who dosent love a cooler running system. Also, a cooler running system will not only help failiure rate but will also help with lower cost in cooling the PS3 and that means, hopefully price saving to hit the consumer at some point….Maybe Christmas 2008?

Silver PS3 for the Cheap

Lets say you own a fancy silver tv. You then have a silver stand. But then you think to yourself, I really like silver so ill buy a silver toaster for my home theater setup. The only thing ruining your home theater shrine? Your BLACK PS3 (with a silver trim) No need to fear, Play-Asia has your solution. You can import a 40GB silver PS3 for $429. Not too bad for import.

Two European PS3 Bundles

On March 18, Europe will be getting a new PS3 bundle with some Blu-ray love. The €399 pack will include a 40GB PS3 and 3 Blu-rays (Casino Royale, Spider-man 3 and 300). Racing fans will have to wait till March 28th for a PS3 40GB with Grand Turismo 5 Prologue. This pack will also be priced at €399. Hit the magic button as always for more pics.

PSP Gets Fake Spray on Tan. Turns Bronze

I guess team PSP just finished watching Austin Powers and thought to themselves, I love GGGOOOLLLDDDDDDD Bronnnzzzeeeeee cause in late April, Japan is getting 60,000 of this limited edition color. Pack to also include 32MB Memory Stick Pro Duo and A/V Cable for roughly $199. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder right? But hey, im all up for selection so hit the magic button for more pics.

Finally, an Official PSP Dock

We have been calling for this for years but Sony of Japan has finally announced a PSP Cradle (currently only for Japan but as always, it will find its way state side via eBay and eventually official launch). With its April 24th launch, you are given the option to spend your money in two lovely ways. With AV cables for ¥6500 (USD$62), while the cradle alone will cost ¥4800 (USD$46).

Now, I and many others dont own a PSP-2000 (aka Slim) and this is meant for those users who want to hookup their PSP to their TV to output the video or charge the unit. This on its own is a fine option but I think Sony is forgetting the bigger picture. The dock we have been calling for can not only charge your PSP, but it should more so be so you can set it down next to your PC (and Mac one day) and give you the option to plug a USB cable to sync it for use of the PlayStation Store. That seems to me like a much more solid product then a video out option. So a recap, video out and charge are cool but can we get another dock with more “meat” to it? Then, ALL PSP users can get something out of. Having said that,we would love to be sponsored for a PSP-2000! Were still rocking the fat boy from launch date here.

Hit the Magic button for some pics and the press release as always.

PlayStation Store Version 1.2?

Slap this purely in the rumor bin but reports have it that sometime in April, Sony is looking to do a little big of change up to the PlayStation Store. From what we have heard, this might coincide with the April 15th launch of Grand Turismo 5. If this indeed does become true, dont expect a huge change as this is suppose to bring some changes, but not a makeover but hey, were all up for a more elegant and functional store. Now, cross your fingers for in game XMB.

Custom Soundtracks for Wipeout HD

Theres only one thing I love more then HD and thats Wipeout in HD. Ive played the series sense its PlayStation launch, now over 10 years ago. So here comes Wipeout HD with a butt load of new features, including 1080p 60fps, Online 8 player mode and now, custom soundtrack. One of the most essential parts of Wipeout has always been its techno mix but it might not be for all and you might just be in the mood for some Michael Buble Korn. Till now, you had no choice but with Wipeout HD, make a playlist in XMB and you got access to it via in game. Hit the magical button as always for full press release.

DualShock 3 for the PS3

So on April 15th, your going to need yourself $94.98 (plus your local tax!) Not only is Grand Turismo 5 launching (for $39.99) but so is the DualShock 3 ($54.99). The DualShock 3 not only boasts the SIXAXIS capabilities of the current controller, but also will bring back the much asked for, Rumble. All of course, wrapped around Bluetooth. Makes me wonder what DualShock 4 will offer with the PS3. Hit the magical button for the full press release and or if you got any idea’s on what DualShcok 4 can give us.

New Home Info

When it comes to first party games, Sony seems to have nailed it with this generation. From launch titles like Resistance: Fall of Man to more recent action adventure Uncharted: Drakes Fortune to one of the craziest multi-player games ever, Warhawk. Coming out with a hit game is one thing, having it not lost with all other competing games and with Time itself is another thing.

This seems to be where PlayStation Home, or “Home” as everybody calls it, is filling in the game. Not only is Home turning out to be a great social environment (as ive met many people that are all now on my Friends list, but being a Beta Tester, I cannot go into further detail) but Home also seems to be offering another thing, a 2nd life to games. No pun for Home being like 2nd life though. Honestly.
