Alleged Sony Xperia Z3 Compact Specs Revealed

Thanks to earlier leaks in the day, we’ve already learned that the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact will come in four beautiful colors which include mint, black, orange, and white. While mum is the word on pricing and availability, we’ve been able to find a little bit more about the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact specs and they should be quite pleasing. The Xperia Z3 Compact specs include:

  • 20.7-Megapixel Rear Facing Camera

Sony QX30 Attachable Smartphone Lens With 30X Optical Zoom Pics Get Leaked

If there was any doubt in your mind that Sony would be announcing the QX30, an attachable lens with 30X optical zoom for your smartphone then let them rest. As you can see from the above photo, the QX30 like its predecessor will once again clip to your iOS and Android smartphone to allow for superior pictures. While we don’t have have specs to reveal about the QX30 besides the 30x optical zoom, Sony for the most part has kept the design the same. Like previous models, the QX30 will latch on to your device and features manual controls for zoom and shutter. The QX30 also a separate battery and microSD card slot to help offset the burden that would otherwise be placed on your device.

Sony Xperia Z3 Gains Copper Color at the Expense of Xperia M2 Aqua

Late last month, Sony unveiled the Xperia M2 Aqua. Nearly identical to the Xperia M2 which was released in early 2014, the Xperia M2 Aqua offers everything from that smartphone in a waterproof housing. Specifically, the Sony Xperia M2 Aqua offers IP65/68 waterproofing which bests their current flagship Xperia Z2 (IP58). In tern, the waterproof Xperia M2 Aqua can sit in depths of 1.5 meters for up to half an hour. Since that time, we’ve seen press shots of the Xperia M2 Aqua in copper though no such device has ever materialized. Now, we’ve learned why.

The Sony Xperia Z3 hasn’t been much of a secret. Leaks having been appearing all over these past few months and so a reveal at Sony’s IFA 2014 keynote was a sure thing. The Sony Xperia Z3 Compact on the other hand has been more elusive. While we’ve seen schematics of the device and some low quality photos, we’ve never been able to confirm the devices true existence. Now, with less than 24 hours before Sony’s keynote, a gorgeous photo revealing the Xperia Z3 Compact has leaked. To make things better, it looks like Sony will be offering the smaller handset in mint, black, orange, and white.

Over a year ago, Sony released the QX10 and QX100 attachable smartphone lenses. Compatible with iOS and Android devices, the mountable lenses would allow you to improve photos taken on your device by utilizing into their higher megapixel sensor and zoom lens. We already believe that Sony will announce the QX30 tomorrow at IFA 2014 with 30X optical zoom but now even a juicer product has leaked, the Sony ILCE-QX1 attachable smartphone lens with an E-mount lens.

New Teaser from Sony Says It’s Time to ‘Demand Great’

With IFA 2014 less than a week away, Sony is beginning to ramp up its hype and media machine. It’s widely expected that at the event, Sony will release the Xperia Z3 among other devices like the QX30 attachable smartphone lens. To that end, Sony released a vague tweet along with a video that teases what’s to come.

The link itself doesn’t have a lot of information to go by but the linked video, which can be seen above, is where the real teaser is. Throughout the video, Sony has slipped in some cryptic messages like at 19 seconds which simply states powerful or 23 seconds which states “keeps going” likely hinting at the devices power and battery life. The short video then ends at around 44 seconds with “03 SE:PT:14” with ‘Demand Great’ which is of course when the IFA press conference will be held.

Sony Smartphones to Finally Come to United States Thanks to Sprint

Sony fans in the United States for years have been left in the dark as the Japanese giant continues its aggressive plan of releasing a new flagship phone every 6 months. When we do get products, they tend to be many months behind Europe and Asia where Sony’s mobile efforts enjoy much more support and acceptance. All of this is likely to change in late 2014 when it’s believed Sprint will carry Sony smartphones for the first time.

Sony Xperia Z to Gain Android 4.4.4

You hear that? That’s the sound of thousands of Sony Xperia Z owners rejoicing over the semi-official confirmation that the Xperia Z will be gaining Android 4.4.4. Just yesterday, we revealed that Sony would be ending software support for the Xperia T, TX, and V in order to focus on newer products. Despite those phones being on Android 4.1, Sony plans to send them off into the sunset with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean later this year. It remains unclear how much further Sony will support the Xperia Z which was released 2 years ago but we at least now know it will gain Android 4.4.4. The best part of this reveal is that other Xperia devices may also be gaining the latest Android build as well. Let’s talk after the jump.

Sony Mobile to End Support for Xperia T, TX, and V After Android 4.3 Jelly Bean

The Sony Xperia T, TX, and V currently enjoy the outdated Android 4.1 Jelly Bean that was released in early 2013. Since that time, Sony has had minor updates for the mid-range smartphones with no major releases. All of that is set to change later this year when Sony will bring Android 4.3 Jelly Bean to the Xperia T, TX, and V. This also means that these will be the final software and firmware updates these three smartphones will receive as Sony shifts its focus to its newer lineups like the upcoming Xperia Z3. Sony hasn’t been having much luck keeping their next flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z3, a secret. Over the past month, we’ve seen plenty of leaks for the device. With IFA 2014 set to take next week where it’s  believed Sony will unveil the Xperia Z3, the leaks are only getting bolder. Sony Xperia M2 Aqua Promo Video

The Sony Xperia M2 Aqua was officially revealed yesterday and earlier today, we provided you with a list of specs you can expect to find in the waterproof smartphone when it launches this fall. Despite its mid-range status, the Xperia M2 Aqua has a lot going for it with a beefy quad-core processor, respectable 8-megapixel camera (remember that the iPhone 5S also has a 8-megapixel camera and that pixels are not everything) on a large 4.8-inch display that can withstand a drop in the toilet or a dunk in the pool. To help drive its waterproof design home, Sony has created the above promo video.

The Sony Xperia M2 Aqua was officially announced by Sony yesterday. Though it was leaked months ago, its nice to finally see the product materialize and be released this Fall. While designed as a mid-range Android smartphone, the Xperia M2 Aqua still packs quite a punch with its Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.2 GHz quad core processor with 1GB RAM and offers plenty to see with its 4.8-inch (540×960) display. So what else can we expect from this waterproof phone that’s capable of staying submerged in depths of 1.5 meters for up to half an hour?

I should point out that I realize how large the above promo picture for the M2 Aqua is but it’s just such a cool shot that needed to be displayed in all of its glory. After the jump, we have the Sony Xperia M2 Aqua specs.

Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact Accidentally Revealed

You see the image above? Yea, that’s from the instructions booklet for the Sony Bluetooth Speaker BSC10. Notice the devices it’s compatible with like the  Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact? For those playing at home, that tablet has yet to be announced. We’d previously revealed tidbits of information that had leaked about a new Sony tablet (SGP621) and speculated that in fact it might be a new compact design. With IFA 2014 right around the corner, we’d expected and still believe that Sony will unveil their next tablets. Now, the above leak all but confirms that we will in fact be getting two new tablets from Sony in the near future.

Meet the Sony Xperia M2 Aqua, 4.8-inch Waterproof Smartphone

Leaked for many months, the mid-range Sony Xperia M2 Aqua has officially been announced. As expected, the Xperia M2 Aqua features all the same specs from the Xperia M2, their midrange Android smartphone with one exception, waterproofing. Specifically, the Sony Xperia M2 Aqua offers IP65/68 waterproofing which beats their current flagship Xperia Z2 (IP58). Thanks to the waterproof design, the Xperia M2 Aqua can sit in depths of 1.5 meters for up to half an hour without any problems, perfect for that accidental slip into the toilet or jump into the pool. (For those playing at home and living in California, I also hope Sony offers a dirt proof version of this in the near future as I’m not sure how much water will be left here soon. #DroughtIsForReal)

The European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) is the largest editorial multimedia organization in Europe, and this year they 6 Sony products were top of the class in their categories to win outright.

Last year Sony won 5 ‘best’ awards, including for the best tablet of the year award. This year the Xperia Z2 Tablet collected the same award, proving in a young category of product innovation, tablets, that Sony has got all the ideas right.

 So slim, so classy, so slick – the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet is undoubtedly an EISA winner.
